Do you have a Wanda or Vision fan in your home or did you absolutely LOVE the WandaVision series? If so, this party may be for you! Whether or you’re a Wanda fan or want to add some Scarlet Witch love to your superhero party, we’ve got some great ideas for you! Read on to check them out!
DECORATIONS
Chances are, if you’re throwing a Scarlet Witch or WandaVision party you already have a few of those themed items in your home (figurines, funko pops, comic books, etc! If you don’t mind having those around the party area, they’ll make great decorations!
Reds and blacks would also work perfectly as they’ll match the color scheme. AND, if you still need a few items to sprinkle around the party, pick up a party kit! We found this simple one Scarlet Witch Party Set that came with a Happy Birthday Banner, Cupcake Toppers, and Balloons.
THE PHOTO AREA
Photo backdrops are a great way of setting a theme and double as a nice and easy activity! Pick a backdrop that functions as decorative, add a few props to the scene and you’ve got a great place to hang out!
We checked around but didn’t find too many backdrops celebrating Wandavision or Wanda herself. We ended up purchasing a few posters and set those up all around the party area.
Note, you don’t have to go all out with a photo backdrop stand either. Grab a few pieces of tape and an empty wall & you’re all set!
THE TABLE
With just a few Scarlet Witch themed items, you can create an awesome table perfect for your Scarlet Witch fan!
We used the red and black color scheme for our tables and folded a few black, hexagon napkins. We also wrapped a handful of candy wrapped in tissue at each setting with one of the cupcake topper images of Wanda from the Scarlet Witch Party Set. In the middle, we simply had a box wrapped in Black and Red Hex Wrapping Paper featuring Wanda’s headpiece on top.
And – as we do with many of our parties, we sprinkled stickers (specifically WandaVision Stickers) all around the party tables. They’re a great way for adding in some extra, inexpensive decor. AND getting the kiddos to do a bit of cleanup (at the end of the party, tell them they can keep as many stickers as they can collect and all those stickers will get picked up super quickly 🙂 )
PARTY FOOD
No party is complete without some party food! You can always serve some typical (or fancier) party food, but you can also keep in theme with a few clever labels 🙂
Serve up some Chicken Parikash with this recipe from chisel & fork to honor Vision’s attempt to cheer up Wanda at the Avengers Compount.
OR go for a few foods with a nod to the Wandavision Series: breakfast for dinner, lobster thermidor, and more! There are some really great ideas from Marvel Blog in their WandaVision Wrap Party: Make Marvelous Recipes!
ACTIVITY TABLE(S)
We typically set up an activity table for kids to keep entertained while everyone arrives AND after all the games are done. These activities are simple and easy and typically don’t require too much supervision.
For our activity table, we had a few print outs of the paper Wanda activity from Kooky Craftables. There is also a youtube video on how to make them: How to Make Cool Wandavision Scarlet Witch Paper Kraft by Kooky Craftables.
GAMES
What’s a party without some fun and memorable games??? Kids will definitely have fun just running around and coming up with their own games, BUT adding in a few themed games will definitely be a hit with your guests!
For our party, the main event was our treasure hunt! Since we had some older kids, our clues were a bit more challenging than clues that point to a location in the party area.
THE SETUP
We had a few “locations” set up that were meaningful to Wanda’s life (Sokovia, the Avengers Compound, Wakanda, Westview, etc). Each location had a hidden clue that would lead to a different “destination” BUT a task or riddle would need to be solved in order to find that clue. Each ‘location’ also had a set of 3 additional clues wrapped in black hexagon envelopes to help ‘guide’ everyone to the correct answer 😉
The Intro Card:
The Intro Card. The intro card sets up the treasure hunt and lets everyone know that there are additional “clues” in the black hexagon envelopes. The task is to find all the words in the word search.
Task/Riddle: Word Search
Answer/Next Location: Sokovia. Once the word search is complete, the remaining letters will spell out: “GO TO SOKOVIA”
Sokovia
For our Sokovian Location, we set up a few Unfinished Wooden Peg Dolls and a print out of a ‘helicarrier’ (ok, realistically, this was just a grey shape with a label “Helicarrier” but no one complained 😉 ).
Task/Riddle: The goal of the task was to move everyone into the Helicarrier (for older kids they could only use the tools provided – spoons, straws, chopsticks, etc. The next clue was actually hidden underneath all the ‘Sokovians’
Answer/Next Location: Avengers Compound. The next clue shows a series of different words, though they look somewhat different. Clever kiddos will see that they have to hold the paper up to a mirror to reveal the different phrases in smaller print (Stark Industries Warehouse, Wanda’s First Home with Vision, New Avengers Facility, In Upstate New York) and the largest phrase … Avengers Compound)
Avengers Compound
At the Avengers Compound, we had a mini “vintage” TV to represent the TV that Wanda was watching in her room. For this clue, we wanted to represent the scene from Wanda Vision Episode 8 where we get a glimpse of Wanda’s life just after the events of Sokovia.
Task/Riddle: According to ScreenRant, the Episode that Wanda was watching when Vision entered her room was Malcolm in the Middle, Season 2 Episode 7: WandaVision Sitcom Episodes. Sooo, in homage to the myriad sitcoms mentioned in WandaVision, we had a number of Sitcoms (I Love Lucy, Dick Van Dyke, etc) in red, numbers in black, and numbers in pink. The goal was to find the right combination of sitcom, season, episode.
Answer: Behind the right combination were the letters “KIT”, “CH”, “EN”, leading to the Avengers Compound Kitchen!
Avengers Compound Kitchen
For our Avengers Compound Kitchen location, we had a few kitchen items laid out on the countertop as well as a picture of a pan.
Task/Riddle: Anyone who is familiar with Wanda’s story knows that Vision once tried to make her Paprikash. AND this is actually based on a real dish! The task was to pull up a recipe and gather up (or find) all the ingredients. The next clue is hidden with the main ingredient – paprika 🙂
Answer: Hidden by the paprika is a picture of yellow colored rock (the mind stone). The next clue leads you to Wakanda, where sadly the mind stone is in pieces.
Wakanda
Our next location is set in Wakanda (Infinity War timeline). And yes, sadly, the mind stone is in pieces.
Task/Riddle: hidden around the entire “location” were small yellow acrylics. The goal was to gather them up and place them into the bowl. Hidden around a larger pile of yellow acrylics is the next clue.
Answer: the next clue is just a picture of a heart. If anyone has seen the Wandavision series, this heart may be familiar to them. In the first episode of Wandavision, Wanda opens up a paper with a heart with the note: ” to grow old in”, sending Wanda to Westview.
Westview
And last but not least.. Westview! **Spoiler Alert**
Task/Riddle: Yes, Wanda did create the Hex BUT she ended up taking it down in the end! For our last and final task, the goal was to ‘take down the hex’ (or the pinata wrapped in the Black and Red Hex Wrapping Paper!
GOODIE BAGS & GIVEAWAYS
For our give away, we found these super cute vintage television phone holders at Targets Spot Section. We gave those away with a few stickers so kids could get that vintage TV feel 😉
