Need a quick way to hold some plastic utensils, pencils, or other types of sticks for your Thanksgiving Party? This quick & easy upcycled kid craft will add a personalized touch to your table! It’s also super easy to make & you may just have most of the materials already in your home! Read on to check it out!
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
THE SUPPLIES:
- Several Sheets of Fall colored construction paper (brown, red, orange, yellow)
- Googly Eyes (can be substituted with black marker, construction paper, etc)
- Tape or some other adhesive (hot glue gun, glue, etc)
- Upcycled Tin Can
STEPS
STEP 1: Create the Body
Using a sheet of brown construction paper, cut it lengthwise to fit the tin can.
Wrap the can in the sheet covering it completely and secure with tape (or glue)
STEP 2: Create the Tail
Have your child (or the entire family 🙂 ) trace their hands on some fall colored construction paper. For this sample, we had about 12 or so handprints cut out. Note: If you’re pressed for time, you can always trace one or two handprints, layer a few sheets of paper underneath the traced version, then cut out a few sheets at a time.
Arrange the cut outs into a tail-shape and tape or glue them together. Note: if you want the tail to be sturdy, you may need several pieces of tape or a bit of glue for each hand cut out.
STEP 3: Attach the Tail to the Body
Using a few pieces of tape (or some glue), attach the tail so that most of the “tail” (fingers) stick out above the body (tin can)
STEP 3: Create the Face
Add (or draw) the googly eyes & a nose.
STEP 4: Fill the Turkey!
(Optionally) Use as to hold some plastic utensils for a Thanksgiving Party or to hold pencils for a Thanksgiving Activity Table!
Enjoy!
