Welcome to our “Soaring High – Flight Week” an at home week filled with days of relaxed learning and fun activities all themed to things that can fly as well as some famous flight pioneers!
Part history, part science, this week was a brief intro on the Wright Brothers & Amelia Earhart as well as an exploration of some of flight machines beyond airplanes – hot air balloons and blimps! Read on to check out the fun!
DAY ONE: An Introductory Day
Like most of our at home camp weeks, we kicked off the week by easing into the topic with an introductory day. We started off with setting up the camp area with some cloud and sky backdrops as well as focusing on one of the most familiar objects that fly – airplanes! Then we created a few airplanes of our own! And, like all days, we added in some interesting books, writing / storytelling prompts, short videos, and activities to keep them learning! Click here to check out full details of the day!
DAY TWO: The Wright Brothers Day
For this day, we learned about the Wright Brothers, their history, and their flights! Click here to check out full details of the day!
DAY THREE: Amelia Earhart Day
On Amelia Earhart day, we learned about Amelia Earhart, her history, and her flights! Read on to check out a fun filled day of learning, reading, crafts, and activities all themed to Amelia Earhart! Click here to check out full details of the day!
DAY FOUR: Hot Air Balloon Day
After learning about some of the first flight pioneers, we turned our attention to one of the first flying contraptions – the hot air balloon! Capturing the imagination of so many, we had to have a day on this machine! Click here to check out full details of the day!
DAY FIVE: Blimps Day
On our last day, we learned all about a rare but fascinating flying machine – a blimp! There are so few blimps today that we couldn’t resist adding this as the focus for one of our days in our Flying Week! It truly is a sight to see! Click here to check out full details of the day!
