If your kiddos love painting and crafts and exploring your park, here’s a quick and easy (although slightly messy) craft that will get them in the autumn spirit! Pick up a few nature craft items on your next walk, add a bit of glue and paint, and you’ll have a miniature pumpkin patch that you can add to your autumn decorations!
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
THE SUPPLIES:
- Round-shaped rocks
- Thin twigs
- Glue
- Orange Paint
STEPS
STEP 1: Prepare Your Rocks & Twigs
After you’ve gone on your adventure you may need to clean the rocks off a bit. This will help the painting go a bit more smoothly.
Cut or break off a bit of the thin twig so that it looks like a decent sized stem for your rock/pumpkin.
Step 2: Attach the Stem
Glue the Twig to the middle of the “top” part of the rock/pumpkin. A glue dot or hot glue works well & quickly. Otherwise, if you’re using a different type, you may need to wait a bit more for it to dry. Alternatively, you can switch steps 2 & 3.
STEP 3: Paint the Rock & Twig
Paint the rock with your orange paint. Optionally paint the twig green (Though you could leave it brown as well).
THE FINISHED PRODUCT
And that’s it!!! Add a few leaves or some autumn-colored handprints and you’ve got a nice miniature, home-made pumpkin path!
If you’re using these for Halloween, add in a few smiles or scary faces to turn them into painted jack-o-lanterns!
