Celebrating Halloween this year with little ones who haven’t reached the “scare me with crazy animatronics” phase yet? No worries! You can still have an amazing time with some simple, silly Halloween fun & games. Read on to check out one of our “Not So Scary” Halloween Parties!
DECOR
Not all Halloween decorations have to be scary and scream-worthy! Decorate your Halloween party with silly googly-eyed pumpkins, smiling ghosts & garlands, and friendly witches.
ARRIVAL
To keep your little ones busy before all the games kick off, have a few very easy crafts or activities laid out. For this party, we set out some sticker scenes (Halloween Sticker Scene, Jack-o-Lantern Sticker Sheets)
FOOD & DRINKS
For this party, we kept the food & drinks pretty simple. Since we had a younger group, we had typical party food (pizza, hot dogs, etc) but served them on more ‘Halloween-Themed’ plates. We also sprinkled some plastic spiders & bats that you can get in bulk at most stores around Halloween.
- Halloween Snacks
- Pretzels
- Cookies
- Veggie “Bats”
ACTIVITIES
As our guests were on the young side, we did all the party activities as a group. We started off with the crafts then worked our way up to the games 🙂
- Mini Upcycled Witch’s Hut Crafts. This one is based on one of our Halloween Decorations: Miniature Halloween Witch Hut Craft. We let the kids pick out which items they wanted to make (tables, picture frames, witch brooms, witch hats, etc…) but had smaller cereal boxes as the base to keep the craft a bit quicker to get through as a group.
- Pumpkin Decorating. Halloween parties aren’t complete without pumpkins!!! Rather than go through the mess of carving out a pumpkin (especially with a bunch of little ones), we opted for relatively mess-free kits. We had a few options so the kids did enjoy getting to pick their own pumpkin decorations 😉
- Pumpkin Cauldron Toss. This one is simple but always a favorite for little ones. The objective is to get the pom pom pumpkins tossed into the cauldrons (if you can’t find a pom pom pumpkin, you can use anything ‘Halloween themed’ or in Halloween colors 😉 )
- Spider Web Escape. For this one, we created a “Spider Web” out of grey yarn and had the kids try to get to the other side without touching the yarn (otherwise they’d get trapped and visited by the spider). For the kids who need a bit more challenge, we had some spiders that would make their appearance on the web at random times (tossing black pom pom around their path) that they would also have to avoid. 😉
GOODIE BAGS
For our goodie bags, we kept things pretty simple: Halloween stickers, crayons, notepads, and candy! They also went home with their pumpkin, witch hut, and any other crafts they created throughout the party 😉
