WHAT YOU’LL NEED
THE SUPPLIES:
- Empty & clean clear fruit or jello cup
- Glow in the dark paint
- Ribbon
- Googly Eyes (Optional)
THE TOOLS:
- Glue (or Tape)
STEPS
STEP 1: Create the Bell Shaped Body
Jellyfish have a bell-shape for its head. For our craft, we used an upcycled fruit cup (although you could also use an upcycled apple juice cup, Jello cup, or egg carton cup. We used paint that was colored as well as glow in the dark paint, so we only had to use one layer. To make the glow stronger, you can add multiple layers of paint. Wait until the entire body is dry
Jellyfish actually do not have eyes (or faces), but if you’re kiddo wants to make theirs “cute and smiley”, then they can definitely add googly eyes and smiles 🙂 Using your glue dots or glue, attach the googly eyes to the cup. (Alternatively, you could draw eyes with a marker or use construction paper). Then, optionally, draw a smile.
STEP 2: Add the Tentacles
Cut a few pieces of ribbon – length can depend on how long you’d like the tentacles to be. Fold the set of ribbon in half and tie with a smaller ribbon at the center. This will keep all the ribbons (tentacles) together & easier to manage. Tape or glue the center (tied end) inside the cup. For best effect, add some glow in the dark paint to the ribbons as well. Attach to the inside of the cup.
STEP 3: (Optionally) Add a Top Loop & Watch Them Glow!
Optionally add a top loop with ribbon and secure with glue. This will allow you to hang the jellyfish.
Then, turn off the lights & watch them glow!
