Welcome to another AMAZING Frozen Party! Frozen 2 is out and we’re here to celebrate!!! Check out our ideas on decorations, crafts, and super fun games that go along with the movie’s songs! Read on to check out the fun!
DECORATIONS
If you can pick up some winter themed crafts after the holiday season, you can get quite a bit of your decor at discounted prices! Then just add a few Frozen 2 decorations and you’ve immediately transformed your space into a Frozen 2 party area 🙂 Since this was a Frozen 2 Party, we also had some of Craft Fall Leaves scattered throughout the party area and tables.
For this Frozen 2 party, we had a wintery photo backdrop that served two purposes – it was a great decoration placed close to the entryway, so it looked like the kids were entering into a winter wonderland 🙂 AND it was a great place to take a few pictures. We set it up along with our collection of Frozen costumes (just in case a kid didn’t come in one but still wanted to dress up for the party!).
We also had our table set up with Frozen 2 plates, napkins, and cups that you can pick up from most stores (Target, Walmart, Party Stores, etc). AND of course, we brought out all of our Frozen stuffed animals and other figurines we’ve picked up throughout the year 🙂
FOOD & DRINKS
With a few clever labels, you can make most foods feel like they’re frozen-themed 🙂
Appetizers:
- Reindeer Fuel – Carrots
- Reindeer Treats – Pretzels
- Frozen Grapes – Okay, so they’re not really frozen themed, but they are frozen 🙂
- Frozen Cheese Sticks
Main Course:
- Sandwiches – Anna’s favorite & also easy to find a place to cater if you’ve got a large group.
Dessert:
- Arendelle’s Finest Ice – Blue Jello Cubes
- Snowy Snacks – We used white chocolate covered pretzels but you could use anything covered in white chocolate or yogurt (raisins, almonds, etc).
- Frozen Cupcakes – Our group doesn’t like too much frosting (though blue and sprinkles would look amazing!), so instead we used toothpicks with frozen stickers to give it more a Frozen look.
- Mini Frozen Popsicles
Drinks:
- Melted Snow – Water Bottles
- Reindeer Water Bottles. We followed this craft by distillata.com: Reindeer Water Bottle Holiday Craft. If you’ve got some extra time or want to get your birthday kiddo in the mood AND helping out, they might love creating these simple reindeer water bottles. Add a picture or figurine of Sven next to them and you’ve got a whole reindeer herd 🙂
CRAFT TABLE
For guests who arrive a bit early, we had a craft table set up to keep them entertained. We had a few simple activities where they could use their creativity without too much assistance:
PONY BEAD SNOWFLAKE. This one is fairly simple. The kids used winter pony beads & winter pipe cleaners to create snowflakes. We had a few blue and purple shades for them to pick from & let them create as many as they wanted!
BRACELET & NECKLACE DESIGN. In addition to creating snowflakes, we also let them use the same materials (winter pony beads & winter pipe cleaners) to create some “jewelry”. This one was a bit more simple than creating a snowflake so it was much easier for the younger ones to do as well!
MAGIC COLOR SCRATCH ORNAMENTS. We purchased this craft from Oriental Trading: Blue Magic Color Snowflake. They kids just scratch off designs using a tool that comes with the kit. They can scratch off the entire snowflake or create their own designs 🙂
GAMES & ACTIVITIES
For this party, we had themed games based on each song in the movie and (of course) had each song playing in the background.
All is Found – This song references a river with a memory, so we played Frozen Memory! We laid out a blue tablecloth as the river and placed cards on it to play memory. There are lots of Frozen card games out there – you can use cards from Frozen Memory Game, Frozen Uno, Frozen Playing Cards, OR just regular old cards 🙂
Into the Unknown – In this song, Elsa sings about things she doesn’t know. We had a few squeamish kiddos so we opted for a cleaner version of the “Mystery Bag/Box” Game. We had each guest put their hand in a large bag filled with a few items (ball, heart, stuffed animal snowman, stuffed animal reindeer, fake carrot, mittens or gloves, winter hat,… really anything related to winter or the movie) and had them guess what they felt.
Some Things Never Change – In this song, Anna and Olaf sing about how things change but they’ll always be there for each other. There’s a line in there: “Holding on Tight to You”, so for this game, each kid picked a partner and held on to each other while racing across the hallway (ideally a yard or open space would work best, but it was a chilly day, so indoors it was!). Because we had limited space, we had a pair go at a time and timed them instead of racing.
Lost in the Woods – In this song, Kristoff sings about how he’s lost without Anna. For this game, you’ll need to clear a bit of space as well. Have the birthday kid close his/her eyes. Then have the other guests quietly scatter around the open space. Once they’re situated, each one can sing a line in the song (or really say anything) so that the birthday kid can find them. The goal is to be the first one found!
Show Yourself – In this song, Elsa finds herself. Hide a few print outs or Elsa figurines in the party area and have guests see how many they can find. Prefix by saying they should just write down or remember where the item is (not take it down) so that others can find them too.
The Next Right Thing – In this song, Anna wills herself to take step after step. It’s a difficult thing for her because of what she’s going through, but we’ll keep the party game light… We repurposed that blue table cloth and added “ice blocks” (white pieces of paper cut slightly to look less like paper) and had each kid walk across to get to the other side. For older kids, we had them dodge fake snowballs to give it more of a challenge.
Pinata – Now that they’ve got to end, they’ll need to take down the dam! We opted to create a really simple pull string pinata for this one – just a box with a picture of the dam on it. We filled the inside with candy, stickers, and different shades of blue pom poms (for the water droplets).
GOODIE BAGS
We did pass out typical goodie bags with some treats and a few Frozen trinkets (stickers, stamps, etc). BUT the biggest part of the give-away were the Frozen 2 Mini Plush Collectable Balls. These were in the centerpiece on the table and added to the excitement! Each kid was super excited to pick one out at the end of the party 🙂
