Thanksgiving is a wonderful time to connect with family and friends, enjoy great good, and catch up! A themed party can add on more fun to the holiday festivities and offer your little ones some fun ways to burn off their energy! For this Thanksgiving party, we brought on the fall leaves and autumn decorations! With some easy to find party supplies, ready made craft kits, and low-prep activities, this one was a hit! Read on to check out the fun!
DECORATIONS
Our Fall leaf party was all about autumn leaves and Fall colors! Along with traditional autumn decorations (like mini hay bales and signs), we also had a number of Fall Maple Leaves spread around the area 🙂
We also had some Fall Leaf Pinwheels that we set up around the area for everyone to play around with. If you have a yard, you can also create a pathway to your door and watch the pinwheels spin!
THE PHOTO AREA
If you’ve seen any of our other parties, you’re likely familiar with our love of photo backdrops! They’re great ways of setting the scene and also giving party guests an added, low-prep activity! We used an Autumn Forest Backdrop but you can definitely find a few others that may fit the autumn themes as well – Fall Backdrop!
If you’re fortunate to have some yard space with some trees that have naturally turned autumn colors, head outdoors instead 🙂
Note, you don’t have to go all out with a photo backdrop stand either. Grab a few pieces of tape and an empty wall & you’re all set!
THE TABLE
While we all want to break out the nice plates and silverware, it may not be feasible (or may cause a bit more stress) – especially on a kid’s table. For ours, we set up some fall leaf paper plates and mixed them with some basic orange colors (which tend to go on sale after Halloween too!). We also spread a number of Fall Maple Leaves and Mini Pom Pom Pumpkins as table scatter.
Each setting had a Fall Leaf Plate as well as a Fall Leaf Box filled with some sugary treats for after. (If you don’t want to overload on the sugar, you can fill it with some party favors instead).
At the center of the table, we had some simple mini wagons filled with some flowers and mini pumpkins.
ACTIVITIES
Onto the activities! While your littles may be more than content to run around with fellow friends and family, some activity kits and games are always a fun add on to make the evening memorable!
- Craft Kits: Around the fall season, you can find tons of craft kits featuring autumn leaves at Dollar Stores, discount sections, and most general stores. These make great additions to an activity table because they usually have everything needed for the kit! Easy & low prep 🙂
- Outdoor Fun
- Fall Leaf Hunt – Go on a hunt for some fallen leaves. Make a game out of it by seeing how many whole leaves (no tears) you can find OR how big of a pile you can make!
- Fall Leaf Pinwheels – Pass out some pinwheels and watch them spin in the wind 🙂
And, with the leaves collected from outdoors OR using some faux leaves, Fall Maple Leaves, make some arts and crafts!
- Leaf Art
- Fall Leaf Collage – this one is pretty simple. Give everyone some paper, upcycled cardboard or paperboard from packages, cereal boxes, etc) and let them glue a beautiful collage of leaves!
- Fall Leaf Imprints – using some crayons or chalk, make some fall leaf imprints of the leaves they’ve just collected!
- Autumn Leaf DIY Crafts
- Upcycled turkey cup (link coming soon)
- Pom Pom Turkeys
