Welcome to our “Circus Week” – an at home week filled with days of relaxed learning and kid-approved fun activities all themed to the oh-so-fun circuses and carnivals! After all, what better way to get them to keep learning than to pick a theme they already think is fun!
For this week, we picked a few favorite performances, games, and activities that can be seen at circuses and carnivals! We dove into the science and history of some of these amazing circus and carnival booths, and tried to put on a carnival of our own 🙂

DAY ONE: An Introductory Day
Like most of our at home camp weeks, we kicked off the week by easing into the topic. We started off with setting up the camp area with some upcycled carnival booths! DAY TWO: Juggling Day
For this day, we turned our attention to the art of Juggling! We dove a bit deeper into the history of juggling, how to juggle, and crafted a few juggling balls of our own. Click here to check out full details of the day!
DAY THREE: Tightrope Day
For this day, we turned our attention to the art of Tightrope Walking or Funambulism! We dove a bit deeper into the history of tightrope walking, famous tightrope walkers, and how to keep balance on a tightrope! Click here to check out full details of the day!
DAY FOUR: Carousel Day
For this day, we turned our attention to oh-so-cool Carousels! We dove a bit deeper into the history of carousels (did you know that their origins trace back to training games for warriors?), learned about how they work, and created a few miniature carousels of our own! DAY FIVE: Ferris Wheel Day
For this day, we turned our attention to Fabulous Ferris Wheels! We dove a bit deeper into the history of ferris wheels, learned about their inventor, and created a few ferris wheels of our own! Click here to check out full details of the day!
FINISH OFF THE WEEK!
And last but not least, finishing off the week with a trip to a carnival or circus! BUT, if the circus or carnival hasn’t made its way to your area, bring one to you! Throw your very own carnival in your backyard with a few games and yummy treats (Check out our Vintage Circus Party or our Circus Party) for ideas!
Alternatively, you can always curl up with the family for movie night with the many circus or carnival themed movies: Dumbo, Pinocchio, Toy Story 4, Greatest Showman, and more!!!
