Make some memories this holiday season!!! Add some fun to the family holiday season by setting up an easy treasure hunt! The kids will LOVE searching all over the house while solving these holiday-themed clues! Read on to check out the fun!
AN EASY INDOOR TREASURE HUNT
Our family has been sending our kiddos on treasure hunts every Christmas to find their presents – it’s been an amazing way to keep them entertained WHILE getting them to use some problem solving and literary skills during the break! While our treasure hunt clues have definitely gotten quite complex (check out our Ultimate Holiday Treasure Hunt), this one is one of our easier ones – simple riddles & clues that will point you to places around the house.
This treasure hunt is meant to help the kiddos get into bed on Christmas Eve 😉 If ever you have trouble getting your kids to fall asleep – or even in their rooms – on Christmas Eve, you’ll know what I mean! The treasure hunt clues send them on tasks like finding cookies and carrots for Santa and getting ready for bed. At the finale, we let the kids find one present (though it’s usually a small one that they can’t play with – like a blanket or stuffed animal) and then have them get to bed. Hopefully by then they’re tired out and fall asleep (or at least are reminded Santa won’t come until they’re in bed! 🙂
THE ANSWER KEY!
Feel free to use these for your own personal use, mix and match, or add your own! There’s a blank clue set if you just want to use that and create your own!
These clues will lead you to some areas in the house that you might stop by before tucking in the kiddos on Christmas Eve:
- Kitchen Cabinets – Christmas Plates. (Pick up a plate to Santa’s cookies)
- Pantry or Cookie Jar – Cookies. (Grab a cookie or two for Santa)
- Refrigerator – Carrots. (Grab some carrots for the reindeer!)
- Wreath, Mistletoe, Kissing Ball – Any hanging evergreen ornament. (Get as many hugs and kisses in while you can!)
- Closet – Coat. (This one is more to make sure they’ve hung their coat. Are morning snowball and snowman sessions in your plans???)
- Bathroom – Bathtub or shower. (Can you get them to brush their teeth too?)
- Window – Check for Reindeer. (Final check for Santa & his reindeer)
- Bookshelf – Nighttime Book (If you’re kids are like mine, they’ll want a bedtime story before going to bed. Hide the clue inside a short one if you’re pressed for time!)
- Bed. (And finally, a top their bed is a small present. Unless you want them super hyper, stay away from toys and opt for something cuddly like a blanket or small stuffed animal!)
Feel free to adjust for your home! 🙂
