Make some memories this holiday season!!! Add some fun to the family holiday season by setting up an easy treasure hunt! The kids will LOVE searching all over the house while solving these Christmas Gnome themed clues! Read on to check out the fun!
THE THEME
While you can always create some clues that lead guests around the house, we like to add a bit of a story line to our treasure hunts 🙂 The little ones LOVE getting involved and solving the mystery or helping out the main character!
For this treasure hunt, our story line started with a Christmas Gnome who wanted to celebrate Christmas with his friends. So, each clue pointed to an area within the house for the next clue BUT also led our treasure hunters to find a Christmas Creatures or Arctic Animals:) At the end of the treasure hunt, there’s a final image with all the Christmas Creature and Arctic Animal friends partying together!
THE SETUP
Since this is an indoor treasure hunt, we don’t need too much setup, especially if you already have some Holiday decorations up. Each Christmas Creature or Arctic Animal would also be found by the next clue.
The Christmas Creatures or Arctic Animals would be found in the following places:
- Christmas Lights (Reindeer)
- Window (Red Cardinal)
- Bathtub (Polar Bear)
- Fruit Bowl or Refridgerator (Partridge)
- Manger (Donkey)
- Chimney or Fireplace (Grinch)
- Closet, Hat Rack, or Wherever you keep your winter hats (Snowman)
- Shelf (Elf)
- Television (Penguin)
- Bed (Ghost of Christmas Past)
- Pantry or Cookie Jar (Santa)
- Gingerbread House (Gingerbread Man)
- Stockings (Mouse)
- Yard, Garden, or Christmas Tree (Final Clue – Everyone 🙂 )
THE CLUES
Below are images of our clues. Note: since our clues don’t have a real order except for the first and last, we kept the creature/animal next to their own clue in the print out, so you’d just have to shift them a bit depending on what order you decide on. This gives you the flexibility to mix and match, omit any clues, and/or add your own!.
Feel free to use these for your own personal use and/or link back or save this post!
