WHAT YOU’LL NEED

THE SUPPLIES:

  • Vintage/Antique Looking Paper AND/OR White Paper with tea/coffee for staining AND/OR Old newspaper, books, or junk journal pages
  • Skewers
  • (Optional) white, brown, tan colored fake flowers

THE TOOLS:

  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Tape

STEPS

STEP 1: Prepping the Paper

If you’re pressed for time, you can purchase some junk journal pages or repurpose pages from some old books as your flower base.  Otherwise, you can customize your vintage bouquet by printing out some of your favorite poems and quotes onto antique looking paper (or white paper and later distressing and coloring it).  If you’re gifting this bouquet, it might be nice to add some of your giftee’s favorite poems, quotes, or excerpts as a personalized touch!

Whichever route you go, you’ll want to have sheets of paper with print on both sides to give the flowers a more full, complete look.

STEP 2: Making the Flowers

There are quite a few methods to create all different kinds of paper flowers, so if you’ve got a certain look in mind, search around! We used two simple methods to create our flowers out of our printed paper: The spiral method and the heart method.  We followed the spiral method from Easy DIY Paper Flower Tutorial from blog.cardsandpockets.com and used that method on our thinner paper.  For our thicker pieces of paper, we simply cut out several heart shapes and started gluing/taping them to the top of the skewer.

STEP 3: Repeat 1 & 2

Repeat steps 1 and 2 using a mix of paper shades: browns, tans, white, etc..  If you have a good mix of various shades, you’ll get a really nice ‘bouquet’.

STEP 4: Arrange Your Bouquet

Once all your flowers have been created and dried, put them all together and optionally add a few brown or white colored fake flowers (You can find fairly inexpensive ones from the Dollar Tree or Craft Stores).  Add them into a pitcher or vase and you’ve got a beautiful bouquet – a perfect decoration for a booklover!
