It’s that time of year again: when leaves change colors, kids go back to school, the weather starts to get a bit colder, and pumpkins start popping up everywhere! Bring a bit of autumn into your homes with some upcycles, kid-friendly crafts, and nature-walk items! Read on to check out some simple ideas!
A Simple, DIY Autumn Centerpiece
With just a few items, you can easily create a mini floral pick centerpiece to add to your Autumn table! Use some upcycled items, natural objects you can find outside, or anything you have around the house! Click here to check out full details!
Autumn Hand Cut Outs
Using autumn colors – brown, red, orange, and yellow – have your kiddos (or the entire family!) cut out a few handprints. You can use them for a variety of crafts but for this particular one, we laid them around the table decoration. Quick note: if you want to create a lot of cut outs, layer your construction paper so that you cut a few handprints at a time.
DIY PAPER HAYSTACKS
This quick and easy autumn craft can be done with your kiddos for fun (or to add some autumn learning fun into your measurements lesson plan). These paper haystacks are the perfect simple and inexpensive craft! All you need is some construction paper, scissors, and a bit of ribbon or twine! Click here to check out full details.
NATURAL CRAFT ITEMS
One your next trip to the park, make a game out of finding some very inexpensive items to add your decorations by looking around your local playground! Look out for some rounder shape rocks that you can paint into pumpkins (just a bit of glue and you can paint a small piece of stick green and now you’ve got a stem!). Pick out some acorns and pinecones and add them to your table!
CRAFT ITEMS & REAL PUMPKINS
Add in some mini plastic pumpkins, fake flowers, mini hay bales, mini pinecones, and some cloth or plastic leaves and you’re autumn decoration is sure to awe-inspire! You can usually find these at craft stores, online, and the Dollar Store around this time of year!
ASSEMBLE YOUR ITEMS THROUGHOUT THE HOUSE
Now that you’ve got your pieces, put them all together! Layout your paper hand cut outs as a base and then arrange your pieces to create a nice autumn look!
OR… CREATE A MASSIVE TABLE DECORATION!
If you’ve got a wooden board, bowls, trays, or crates, you can add some height to your items and keep that autumn, natural look!
