Looking for a simple mini craft to add to your Halloween decorations? These miniature Halloween Portraits are super easy, inexpensive, decorative, and customizable 🙂 ! Use them in other decorations. Create a whole mini hallway of portraits.. The possibilities are endless!
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
THE SUPPLIES:
- Square or Rectangular Halloween Stickers
- Black Construction Paper (you can also use a different color if preferred. This will be the frame)
- Twine
THE TOOLS
- Scissors
- Glue/Glue Dots/Tape (any preferred adhesive that works on paper)
STEPS
STEP 1: Set up the “Frame”
Cut 2 Strips of black construction paper. Each strip will be ‘folded’ around the sticker to create the ‘frame’ portion: Sizes of the strip will vary depending on your sticker size and how large you create the frame on the first strip.
Generally, you’ll want the width of one strip to equal the width of the sticker with its height roughly one and half times the sticker’s height (the excess is for the fold). For the second strip, you’ll want it’s height to cover the size of the sticker + the combined size of your folded frame. The width should be roughly one and half times the sticker’s width, so that you can create the sides of the frame.
It’s easier than it’s written 🙂 A picture is worth a thousand words – see below. The strips are colored green and brown just to see them better.
STEP 2: Create the top and bottom parts of the frame.
Place your sticker in the middle of strip 1. Then fold the bottom – you should be able to get 2 folds fairly easily. Then glue or tape the “bottom frame” down.
Repeat for the top.
STEP 3: Create the string to hang the portrait.
Cut a piece of twine roughly twice the size of the width of the sticker.
STEP 4: Create the left and right parts of the frame.
This step is similar to Step 2 except you the twine you’ve just cut in Step 3 will be folded into the frame.
Repeat the folding technique for each side.
STEP 5: Finished Product!
Hang up the ‘portrait’ in your Mini Halloween Scene 🙂
