Aargh!  Shiver Me Timbers!  Who’s ready for an amazing (and easy!) Rustic Pirate Party!  We have definitely had a number of other pirate themed parties and weeks (Pirate Party, Shiver Me Timbers: It’s Pirate Week) over the years, but we wanted this one to have a more vintage, treasure-seeking feel!

DECORATIONS

Since we were opting for more of an old-time feel, we set up the area with brown color schemes using brown kraft paper, ropes, twine, burlap, etc.  (Kraft Paper Roll, Decorative Nautical Rope).

We also scattered a ton of Pirate Coins and brought out some gold nuggets we created in our Pirate Week – Intro Day (It’s a super easy & inexpensive craft!)

THE PHOTO AREA

Photo backdrops are a great way of setting a theme and double as a nice and easy activity!  Pick a backdrop that functions as decorative, add a few props to the scene and you’ve got a great place to hang out!

For this party, we set out our trusty Vintage World Map Backdrop and handed out some Pirate Felt Eye Patches.

Note, you don’t have to go all out with a photo backdrop stand either.  Grab a few pieces of tape and an empty wall & you’re all set!

THE TABLE

For our table, we purchased a Pirate Birthday Party Tableware Set which had plates, napkins, and utensils.  Then we spread out some Pirate Coins and the ‘gold nuggets’.

PARTY FOOD

No party is complete without some party food!  You can always serve some typical (or fancier) party food, but you can also keep in theme with a few clever labels or snacks 🙂

For our rustic pirate party, we served up some typical pirate: dried meat, fish, hardtack (biscuits).  And of course, we served up some “Gold Nuggets” (a.k.a. Chicken nuggets).

GAMES

What’s a party without some fun and memorable games??? Kids will definitely have fun just running around and coming up with their own games, BUT adding in a few themed games will definitely be a hit with your guests! Here were a few of ours.

For this party, we opted for some very simple games.  We scattered Pirate Coins and “Gold” (painted rocks) for everyone to find.

GIVEAWAYS AND GOODIE BAGS

Once the party was over, we sent everyone home with some pirate coin necklaces & passed out a few ‘treasure boxes’ for kids to add to their block sets!
